Tennessee requires a contractor's license before bidding or contracting on projects of $25,000 or more, issued by classification with a monetary limit. Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing subcontractors also need the license at $25,000 or more, and masonry at $100,000 or more.
