Buildings per contractor: Houston and nearby markets
617 nonresidential plumbing and HVAC contractors are based in the Houston-Pasadena metro. 10 more opened over the past year, so buyers are fielding new names. The trade is 43% more concentrated than the U.S. as a whole. Facility teams here already hear from commercial mechanical contractors, and a specific reason to talk beats a generic pitch. 8.1 larger HVAC-buying buildings per contractor puts Houston 75 of 100 markets, and 2 of 6 in Texas. That is toward the crowded end, so growth here comes mostly from displacing incumbents at renewal. If you can serve Dallas, it has more larger buildings per contractor than Houston.

How Abstrakt runs it
What your Houston appointment-setting program looks like
Your outsourced sales development team works the numbers above under your name. Here is the plan for Houston commercial mechanical contractors.
01
Build the Houston list
Abstrakt's records already hold 8,479 eligible HVAC targets in the Houston-Pasadena metro. Your ideal customer profile becomes a target list drawn from those records and the 4,992 larger HVAC-buying buildings in the metro, starting in Harris County and Fort Bend County. That is about 5.7 times the 1,500-account list a Foundation program starts with, so the list is ranked Tier 1 first and worked in waves.
02
Reach the person who signs
For HVAC, that starts with the plant engineer at manufacturing plants, then two or three contacts at each of the 1,612 Tier 1 sites. Calls, email and LinkedIn run together; Growth adds direct mail and intent data.
03
Call every month, with the right message
Your SDR calls all year. Mar–May is the push for bid meetings ahead of peak service (Jun–Sep); the other months lead with service problems, renewals and budgets, so the pipeline never stops filling.
04
Book only qualified meetings
Every meeting passes Right Company, Right Contact and Right Timing, and arrives with the equipment notes, the incumbent and the renewal month.
05
See every dial
The Results Portal shows every call, email, conversation and booked meeting in the Houston program, around the clock.
Guaranteed. We agree the activity or qualified-appointment number in writing before launch. If we miss it, we keep working at no additional cost until we hit it.
Exclusive. We run one program per trade per market, so we will not run HVAC appointment setting for a direct competitor in Houston.
Flat monthly pricing. Foundation is $5,000 a month (best for $2M to $10M revenue), Growth $8,500 (best for $10M to $50M), Enterprise custom. See what each plan includes.
Harris County and Fort Bend County hold 84% of the larger HVAC-buying sites across the 9-county metro. The other 7 counties split the remaining 16%, which is where Tier 1 accounts justify the drive and smaller sites do not.
County notes
Harris County: 1,352 larger manufacturing plants and 1,119 larger medical and dental office buildings
Fort Bend County: 187 larger medical and dental office buildings and 123 larger manufacturing plants

MD Anderson Patient Care Building 1
Approved
A 25-floor clinical tower and a standalone Therapeutic Radiation Center for MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center, Houston.
UT System regents approved the budget in May 2026, with later construction stages expected to start in early 2027 and final completion stretching into the early 2030s. Houston City Council approved $2 billion in bonds in February 2026 for work running through 2038, with the first phase due by 2028. Large-venue HVAC, electrical, and fire protection work comes first, then plaza paving and landscaping and recurring cleaning for a high-traffic public venue.
A 24 MW colocation data center at 2626 Spring Cypress Road in Spring, Harris County, built for high-density AI racks with closed-loop dry-chiller cooling.
Ground broke in November 2025 and the facility is due to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026. Data center work is heavy on electrical distribution, cooling, and fire suppression, and the finished building needs ongoing mechanical service and specialized cleaning.
Health systems, campuses, large employers and industrial parks hold the biggest concentrations of buildings in the metro. Each fact links to its source, checked 2026-10.

Texas Medical Center reports 10,000 total patient beds, 54 million developed square feet and 120,000+ total employees across its campus.
Dozens of member hospitals, research buildings and garages inside one district create continuous mechanical, electrical, cleaning and parking-structure work.

12-month calling calendar
What to say to Houston facility teams, month by month
Average highs reach 94°F in August and lows drop to 43°F in January, for about 3,026 cooling and 1,366 heating degree days a year. Cooling is the dominant load, so Mar–May is the push for meetings ahead of the summer service crush, and summer calls lead with the problems facility teams are living through.
Your SDR calls every month. The calendar changes the message, not the effort: push for bid meetings in the red months, lead with service problems in peak months, and build the renewal list the rest of the year.
